    2025 8th Grade Scholars Application

    Application Deadline: Friday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m. (EST)

    Program Entry Criteria (who is eligible to apply):
    • Enrolled in the eighth grade in Springfield City Schools, Global Impact STEM Academy, Graham Local Schools, Urbana City Schools, Clark-Shawnee Local Schools or Tecumseh Local Schools
    • Household size and annual household income amount meets federal income eligibility guideline for free meals or reduced priced meals as outlined in the USDA Income Eligibility Guidelines
    • Achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.75 during student's seventh grade year
    • Neither parent (including step-parent) or legal guardian has earned an associate's or higher-level college degree at the time of application

    High School Scholars Criteria: Upon acceptance to the program, all Scholars and their parents/guardians must agree to uphold the following criteria throughout their high school career to remain eligible.
    • Maintain a 2.75 or greater GPA (grade point average)
    • Maintain 93 percent or better school attendance
    • Participate in program activities, including attendance at monthly Mentor Sessions
    • Exhibit good citizenship (students must not have been suspended or expelled)
    • Stay enrolled in the district in which you were inducted*
    • Enroll at Clark State College the fall semester after high school graduation, submit the FAFSA and receive Federal Financial Aid Package at Clark State College
    *Students maintain eligibility if they maintain district enrollment and attend Springfield-Clark CTC, Global Impact STEM Academy, School of Innovation, or Ohio-Hi Point.

    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) each academic year. Student must be eligible to submit the FAFSA and receive Federal Financial Aid Package at Clark State College in order to receive scholarship support
    • Students must be eligible for in-state tuition (if student does not hold citizenship status, student must follow in-state residency guidelines to determine if they qualify for in-state tuition)
    • Maintain at least 2.0 GPA in all coursework at Clark State College
    • Enroll in classes that are relevant and required for your declared degree program
    
    What supports will a Scholar Receive?
    All support services will be delivered in English
    • Mentorship throughout high school and college
    • Invitations to special activities, include offsite visits and events at Clark State College
    • Academic support through tutoring resources
    • Pending the student meets the outlined FAFSA and In-State Tuition criteria, the student will be eligible for up to three years free tuition including books and fees. Scholarship support will only be applied if the student is eligible per the above. The scholarship will be applied after FAFSA is completed and the Federal Grants or additional scholarships are awarded.

    Program Entry Criteria - First Generation: Neither parent (including step-parent) or legal guardian has earned an associate's or higher-level college degree at the time of application.

    Program Entry Criteria - GPA: student must have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.75 during the seventh grade year.

    Student Statement: Please explain why you should be considered for the Clark State Scholars Program and why this college scholarship is important to you. Recommendation: type your answers in a separate document, and then copy and paste into the Scholars Application.

    School Reference: Should the Scholars team need to contact a school reference, please include the following information for a trusted teacher, counselor, coach, principal, or other school staff member.

    Student Interview: Eligible student applicants will participate in an in-person interview scheduled at their school. Information will be communicated from their school counselor.
